Background
Autism is a neurological and developmental disorder that begins early in childhood and may cause severe development delays throughout a person's life. It affects how a person acts and interacts with others, communicates, and learns. Today, 1 in 45 children, ages 3 through 17, have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as per a government survey. It is estimated that about 1.5 million people in the U.S. have ASD. It is growing year over year. Our analysis suggests that it is above 14% per year.
What causes Autism?
There is no proven cause for autism yet. Research suggests that autism develops from a combination of genetic and nongenetic, or environmental influences. Some of the possible risk factors include:
- Advanced parent age (either parent).
- Pregnancy and birth complications.
- Premature birth.
- Pregnancies spaced less than one year apart.
- Vaccines.
- GMO Foods.
- Social changes in the families.
- Differences in brain biology.
There are many government and non-government organizations working on this cause. Still, there is a big mystery behind what causes Autism. Netpeach Technologies comes with an ambition to help the cause.
About Uncover Autism
Research shows the several causes that could affect autism. The goal of the project is to help the society to mitigate the risk of autism in newborn babies by identifying more reliable causes of autism. The project will be exploring the existing research, and available information with feedback (surveys) from the patient population to define more reliable causes. The purpose of this study is to help the industry with any findings that we discover during the analysis. Uncover Autism is a research project by Netpeach Technologies. The project is leveraging Big Data technologies and ecosystem, Unstructured Data Analysis, and Deep Learning.
Approach and Methodology
As the aim of the project is to discover more valuable insights from structured and unstructured data by leveraging big data technologies and ecosystem, we are primarily checking for any correlations, patterns, and analysis from the data lake that we are building. Some of the data points that we are looking are mother’s and father’s age when the baby was born, locations connected to autism rates, medical background of parents, vaccination details, parent’s careers, and many more data points.
